Maqam Rast has two forms shown above. In general the first form (Rast-Rast) is used on the way up, and the second form (Rast-Nahawand) is used on the way down. The secondary jins is the Sikah trichord on the 3rd note, often used in modulation.

Maqam Suznak is very similar to maqam Rast, except the second tetrachord is Hijaz. Maqam Suznak is a very popular modulation for maqam Rast.

Maqam Nairuz is very similar to maqam Rast, except the upper tetrachord is Bayati. Pieces in maqam Rast often modulate on maqam Nairuz and vice versa.

Maqam Yakah is a transpose of maqam Rast on lower G. Iin general the Rast-Rast form is used on the way up, and the Rast-Bayati and Rast-Nahawand forms are used on the was down. A third form is possible with Bayati as the upper jins.
